Privacy policy

Before publishing: draft based on Mexico’s current Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, published on 20 March 2025. Karen still needs to approve it and fill in the items marked [CONFIRM]. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer.

Who is responsible for your data

I’m Karen Weber, a clinical psychologist with an office at Av. Fluvial Vallarta 206, Fluvial Vallarta, 48312 Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. I am responsible for the personal data I receive through this website.

What this policy covers

This policy covers the data I receive through this website: the contact form, and the WhatsApp number and email address shown on it.

What you share during therapy is also governed by professional confidentiality and by the ethical code of psychology, which are stricter than this policy. When we start therapy, I explain how I handle your clinical record and ask for your written consent.

What data I receive

Through the contact form: your name, your email address, the subject (optional) and your message.

Through WhatsApp: your phone number, your profile name and what you write.

By email: your email address and what you write.

To stop automated submissions, the server keeps a fingerprint of the IP address the form is sent from —not the address itself— and the time it was sent. If the email carrying your message fails to send, the server keeps your email address and the beginning of your message, only so that I can reply to you.

Sensitive data

I do not ask for health information through these channels. If you choose to tell me something about your health or your emotional situation in your message, I treat it as sensitive data: I use it only to reply and to assess how I can help, and I do not share it with anyone, except where professional ethics or the law require it, such as when there is a risk of harm to yourself or to others.

If we start therapy, I ask for your written consent to process that data.

What I use it for

• To reply to your message.
• To arrange an appointment with you, if that is what you are asking for.

These are the only purposes, and both are needed to handle your request. I do not use your data for advertising or add it to mailing lists, so there are no other uses for you to authorise.

Who I share it with

I do not sell or transfer your data to anyone.

To keep the site running I use these providers, which handle the data on my behalf and only for that purpose:

• Hostinger: hosts the website and email.
• Cloudflare: delivers the website and protects it from attacks. To do so it sees technical data about your visit, such as your IP address.
• WhatsApp (Meta): if you message me there, your messages go through its service and are also governed by WhatsApp’s privacy policy.

These providers may store or process the information outside Mexico.

How to limit the use of your data

You can ask me at any time to stop using your data or to delete it by writing to [email protected].

You don’t have to use any particular channel: you can contact me through whichever you prefer.

Your rights

Under Mexico’s Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, you may at any time:

• Access the personal data I hold about you.
• Correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Delete it.
• Object to its use for a specific purpose.

These are known in Mexico as ARCO rights. You can also withdraw any consent you have given me to use your data.

How to do it: write to [email protected] and include:

1. Your name and an email or phone number where I can reply.
2. A document proving your identity or, if someone is asking on your behalf, one proving they represent you.
3. Which data it concerns and which right you want to exercise.

I reply within 20 days at most. If your request is granted, I carry it out within a further 15 days at most. It is free of charge.

If you believe I did not handle your request as the law requires, you can turn to Mexico’s Ministry of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance (Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno), the authority that oversees it.

Cookies and third-party tools

This site does not use advertising tracking cookies or tools that build visitor profiles.

How long I keep it

I keep your messages for as long as needed to handle your request. If we do not start therapy, I delete them at the latest six months after our last contact.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Form messages reach me by email and are not stored in any publicly accessible database. Even so, no system on the internet is completely secure.

Links to other sites

This site may link to third-party pages. Once you leave, anything you share is governed by that site’s privacy policy, not this one.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I publish the new version on this same page, with its update date.
